Starting Apr. 4, the filmed version of Broadway’s “Merrily We Roll Along” will be available for streaming on Netflix.
The pro-shot was released on-demand in Jan. but is officially heading for Netflix this week, with a star-studded cast included Jonathan Groff as Franklin Shepard, Daniel Radcliffe as Charley Kringas and Lindsay Mendez as Mary Flynn, all three of whom originated their roles in the 2022 Off-Broadway production.
The hit revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s “Merrily We Roll Along” opened at the Hudson Theatre in Oct. of 2023 and ran through July of 2024.
The musical first debuted on Broadway in 1981, follows the lives of three friends making their way in the entertainment world in reverse chronological order. It is sourced from a play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The Broadway revival won four Tony Awards in 2024, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Leading Actor (Jonathan Groff), Best Featured Actor (Daniel Radcliffe), and Best Orchestrations (Jonathan Tunick).
The production also released a cast recording in Jan. of 2024, which gained traction and featured 27 full tracks from the show and included other cast members such as Krystal Joy Brown, Katie Rose Clarke, and Reg Rogers.
After its successful release in cinemas and on-demand, the pro-shot of Tony-winner “Merrily We Roll Along” will be available on Netflix tomorrow.
