Florence + The Machine Release a New Album

By Aneliese Hitron

English indie rock band “Florence + The Machine,” fronted by lead singer Florence Welch, released its sixth studio album titled “Everybody Scream” on October 31, 2025. Everybody Scream is the band’s first album in three years, following its 2022 hit album “Dance Fever. The album comprises 12 tracks and has a runtime of 49 minutes.

The band began teasing the album in July 2025 with an Instagram carousel posted by Welch. The photos alluded to music production and featured themes such as witchcraft, magic, poetry, and insanity, coinciding with the Halloween release date. Welch and her team continued posting allusive content until the album was officially announced on August 19, 2025.

The album explores healing and the limits of one’s own body, inspired by Welch’s life-saving surgery in 2023 during the Dance Fever tour. Welch told New Zealand music producer Zane Lowe the title promotes the idea of screaming as a celebratory emotional release.

The album has received mostly positive reviews so far. New Musical Express journalist Laura Molloy awarded the album five stars and praised Welch’s presentation of the “brutal, ugly and raw sides of femininity.”

Screenwriter and freelance critic Sam Rosenberg, on the other hand, noted in the American monthly music and entertainment digital magazine, “Paste,” there were moments where “the modern and medieval sensibilities clash a bit and threaten to throw the album off its initially steady, clear-eyed axis.”

On November 7, Everybody Scream landed atop the U.K.’s official albums chart.

“Sixteen years on from Lungs, I take none of this for granted,” Welch said to the Official Charts Company. “I’m so grateful to everyone who took the time with this record. It is a scream, but I also wanted it to be a balm to anyone who needed it.”
