Early morning fire damages home on East Colvin Street

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — On Sunday, June 16th, at 6:10 a.m., Syracuse Firefighters were alerted by a 911 call of a reported house fire on East Colvin Street.

Firefighters arrived quickly to the home where they found large amounts of smoke coming from the second-floor porch and flames and smoke were spreading into the home and attic. People at the house reported that there were possibly people still inside.

Firefighters worked quickly to put the fire out while searching the houses’ multiple apartments for people remaining inside. The firefighters search found that everyone inside the house during the fire made it out.

In total, it took firefighters 30 minutes to put out the fire.

The second-floor apartment where the fire began, and the attic above, suffered severe fire, smoke, and water damage, a portion of the roof also collapsed.

Three adults and one child were displaced by this fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Syracuse Fire Investigators at the house have determined the fire began on a second-floor porch with the cause of the fire currently unknown.

There were no injuries reported to people in the home or to Fire Department personnel.
