CNY school districts adjusting schedule due to upcoming heat

CENTRAL NEW YORK (WSYR-TV) — As intense heat is set to hit Central New York next week, two local school districts have changed its schedules.

The Central Square School District will be having a half day on Tuesday, June 18, for elementary school and middle school students.

The Syracuse Central School District will be having half days for elementary, middle and PreK-8 school students on Tuesday, June 18, Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21.

Students will be dismissed at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. respectively on those days.

Since high schools have access to air-conditioned environments, high school Regent exams will go forward as scheduled, the Syracuse school district said.

All schools in New York will be off on Wednesday, June 19, in recognition of Juneteenth.
