Inmates pleads guilty to murdering cellmate at Gouverneur prison

GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. (WWTI) – A 49-year-old inmate has pleaded guilty to the murder of his cellmate in June 2023 at Gouverneur prison.

On May 29, Wilfredo Noe pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a press release from St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua.

Noe was accused of murdering 26-year-old cellmate Luigi Cappellino in a fight back on June 5, 2023. Officials said that Noe strangled Cappellino in the altercation.

Noe faces an added 18 years to life when he’s sentenced on July 29. He is currently incarcerated for an unrelated crime.

He was indicted by a grand jury on murder, manslaughter, assault, strangulation and assault charges.
