Services for Mary Casciano, remembering Christie’s mother

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — It is with sadness that NewsChannel 9 announces the passing of Mary Casciano.
Mother to Christie Casciano, Mary was a few months away from hitting 100. She passed away on May 28, at St. Camillus.
Mary was born Mariaantonia Margherita Rosa Palladino on July 28, 1924, in the small mountain town of Guardiaregia, Italy, to parents Domenico and Rosa, according to her obituary.
Her greatest joys came within the home, caring for her children and spoiling her seven grandchildren.
Her calling hours are on Friday, May 31 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, with a funeral mass to follow.
“Mary grew up helping her mother run the Palladino corner store in the Village of East Syracuse. A graduate of East Syracuse High School, she earned her certification in cosmetology, working at several salons. She met the love of her life in a rival East Syracuse grocer, Joseph Casciano of Leo & Sons Big M. The two wed in 1949 and raised six children,” stated her obituary.
