Munnsville man dead after Stockbridge UTV accident

UTV collided with car, tree, house

STOCKBRIDGE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Madison County Sheriffs are investigating an early-morning motor vehicle crash that left one person dead in the Town of Stockbridge.

Sheriffs were called to the vicinity of Haslauer Road in the town of Stockbridge at approximately 2:45 am on Friday, May 24. Upon their arrival, they observed a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) in a ditch off the southern shoulder of Haslauer Road.

Officers also found the operator of the UTV — 44-year-old Shane Warner of Munnsville — in the yard of the residence. Warner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation found that Warner was driving his UTV westbound of Haslauer Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree, a vehicle in the driveway of a residence and then the nearby house.

According to Madison County Sheriffs, the house at 6265 Haslauer Road was heavily damaged as a result of the accident. Police say that alcohol and excessive speed appear to be factors in the accident.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the New York State Police, the Munnsville Fire Department, and Vineall Ambulance of Oneida.

The accident remains under investigation by Madison County Sheriffs. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
