How is the weather looking for Memorial Day weekend?

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – The unofficial start to summer is just around the corner with Memorial Day weekend almost upon us. How is the weather looking?
Not completely dry, but not a washout
After a spectacular day on Friday leading into the holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures, the threat for showers and thunderstorms will return on Saturday. Be sure to have the rain gear handy if you have plans out and about.
We then get a break from the rain with high pressure moving in temporarily on Sunday. This looks to be the nicest day of the weekend by far, perfect for anything that you may have planned outdoors. Any travel impacts should be limited, unless you are traveling southwest toward Ohio, Indiana, and farther out into the Midwest. This is where chances for rain will increase on Sunday.

That area of high pressure that keeps us dry locally on Sunday quickly fades into Memorial Day on Monday, allowing another frontal system to push in. This will result in another round of showers, periods of steady rain, and even a few thunderstorms as well.
Will the recent heat continue?
Temperatures will likely not reach the 90s like they have recently, but it is still looking to be on the warm side over the weekend.
Saturday’s highs will likely be in the low to mid 80s. Highs will be near 80 for both Sunday and Memorial Day.

Keep in mind, the average high in Syracuse during Memorial Day weekend is 72 degrees, so temperatures will be at or a little above average this year.
