Several dogs and cats die during fire in Seneca County

TOWN OF LODI, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Before 12:30 p.m. on April 25, Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to a house fire at 2027 W. Seneca Street, in the Town of Lodi.
At the scene, the sheriff’s office says deputies found the home in flames.
The 50-year-old homeowner, as well as two other residents, were not home at the time of the fire. However, several cats and dogs were killed during the incident.
The sheriff’s office says the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
“The home was uninsured and was significantly damaged. The Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the owner and residents. The home is estimated to be a total loss with an amount of $100,000 or more,” said the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
The Lodi Fire Department was assisted by the Ovid Fire Department, the Interlaken Fire Department, the Romulus Fire Department, the Fayette Fire Department and the Hector Fire Department as well as the Seneca County Fire Investigation Team.
