Wegmans to hold prescription medication drop-off

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Wegmans Food Markets is working with local law enforcement to host prescription medication drop-offs.
Across seven states at 53 locations, you have the opportunity to properly dispose of your potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
This event will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at all participating stores.
“Prescription medications play an important role in the health of millions of Americans, but unused and expired medications that remain in homes can pose significant public health and safety concerns due to their high susceptibility to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses,” said Wegmans.
Wegmans says this event is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. Only pills and patches will be accepted, no liquids, needles or sharps.
