Ryan Blackwell joins Gerry McNamara as assistant coach at Siena


SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR) — Ryan Blackwell, former Syracuse basketball player and Liverpool boys’ basketball coach, will be an assistant head coach at Siena. Siena Basketball made the announcement on Tuesday via X.
Blackwell has spent the last nine years as the head coach for Liverpool where they won five sectional titles and he was named 2018 USA Today New York State Basketball Coach of the Year after their perfect 26-0 season.
He has also coached at the professional level with the Syracuse Stallions in 2022 and has coached Boeheim’s Army since 2016. Blackwell also played at Syracuse from 1996-2000 where he racked up 1,175 points averaging 7.2 rebounds a game.
Ryan Blackwell is the second hire since McNamara has taken over the program as head coach.
