Courts closing early due to today’s total solar eclipse


WATERTOWN, N.Y (WWTI) – Court facilities in the path of the total solar eclipse in New York State will be limiting services and/or closing down early.
The state’s alert system sent out a message that courts in Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, Franklin and Oswego counties will be closing down at noon due to the celestial event.
The courts are closed with the exception of arraignments and emergency criminal matters.
Other counties that will close down the courts today are Oneida, Onondaga, Herkimer, Clinton, Essex, Hamilton, Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans; and Wyoming.
Please check with your local Town, Village or Federal court for information on those courts.
