Mainly clear tonight, but what about eclipse day?

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – After a gorgeous spring day on Sunday, can we keep it going into Monday for the eclipse? Find out below…
Cool, clear and quiet tonight
High pressure cresting overhead provides us with a quiet, mainly clear night as lows drop into the low 30s or so with little to no wind.

Sun battles more clouds during eclipse Monday
While eclipse day had initially been looking good earlier this past week, the trend Friday into the weekend isn’t as good with more high and mid-level clouds expected to build in Monday afternoon for much of CNY.
While the upper-level clouds will mask/filter the sun, the mid-level clouds are expected to block the sun/eclipse at times in CNY. At this point, it does appear that the lower clouds will have some breaks in them allowing for at least parts of the region to view the eclipse, including totality, at times.
Keep your fingers crossed that wherever you view the eclipse between Syracuse and the U.S. Canadian border that there are nice breaks in the lower clouds so you can catch the sun’s disk get completely covered by the moon during totality! Make sure to check back with us Monday morning with another update on this too.

Highs Monday will be in the upper 50s to mid-60, so pretty comfortable for early April in CNY.

Warming trend continues Tuesday
After most reach the 60s on Monday, high temperatures will climb all the way up between 70 and 75 on Tuesday with a mix of sun and a few clouds.

Keep in mind, the average high is in the low 50s for this point in the month of April.
Next chance of rain won’t arrive until midweek. Stay tuned for updates.
