Watertown man charged in early-morning shooting


WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – A 24-year-old Watertown man is facing charges after an alleged early Sunday morning, March 31, shooting.
According to a press release from the Watertown City Police Department, uniformed patrols responded to investigate a firearm complaint at 1:20 a.m. at the Paddock Club located on Public Square. It’s alleged that Kenneth Perez fired a gun in a crowded hallway striking himself in the leg and striking an uninvolved female in the leg.
Both people were taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. They were both treated and released.
Authorities charged Perez with second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, which is a Class C felony. Perez was also charged with third-degree Assault and second-degree Reckless Endangerment.
He was held pending arraignment. Watertown City Police was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Watertown City Fire Department and Guilfoyle Ambulance Service.
