Watertown man facing drug charges after traffic stop in St. Lawrence County

GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. (WWTI) – A 43-year-old Watertown man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop Thursday night, March 28, in the town of Gouverneur.

In a press release, New York State Police stated that they pulled over John C. Reynolds after authorities observed a 2011 Nissan Sentra committing “numerous traffic violations” on County Route 9.

The statement alleges Reynolds showed signs of impairment and after failing SFSTs, he was placed under arrest. During the stop, Reynolds was found to be in possession of a quantity of crystal methamphetamine, bags of suspected fentanyl and a scale.

State troopers charged Reynolds with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth (C-Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance seventh (A- Misdemeanor), Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia second (A-Misdemeanor) and DWAI-drugs and traffic tickets.  

Reynolds was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur Court and released. 

The state police’s  Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team was assisted by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, U.S. Border Patrol and the Gouverneur Police Department.
