Snowmobile accident in Town of Webb kills one

Snowmobile collided with railroad crossing sign

TOWN OF WEBB, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A snowmobile accident in the Town of Webb late Saturday night has left one person dead, according to Town of Webb Police.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Big Moose Road and the Adirondack Railroad Tracks at approximately 7:47 pm on Saturday, March 23. Further investigation found that the operator of the snowmobile — Michael Volino of Millbrook — was operating his snowmobile on Big Moose Road when he lost control of the vehicle.

The snowmobile then drove off of the roadway, colling with a railroad crossing sign.

Volino was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Town of Webb Police, the investigation is ongoing.

The Town of Webb Police were assisted by Inlet and New York State Police, the Big Moose Fire Department and the Old Forge Ambulance Corps.
