Liverpool girls advance to state championship with win over Lancaster

Troy, N.Y. (WSYR) — Liverpool girls basketball will move on to the Class AAA state championship game on Sunday after dominating Lancaster in the 77-38 win.

Liverpool opened up the game outscoring Lancaster 18-9 in the first quarter and went up by 22 at the half.

The Warriors dominated on defense forcing 29 turnovers and racking up 16 steals, which gave their offense a chance to shine. Former Student-Athlete of the Week A’briyah Cunningham led the team with 26 points and six rebounds followed closely behind by Kaylyn Sweeney with 22 points.

Liverpool with take on Section IX’s Our Lady of Lourdes at 10 a.m. on Sunday for the Class AAA state title.
