Rome man arrested on inappropriate contact charges


Allegedly subjected two female children to inappropriate contac
ROME, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Rome man faces several charges in Oneida County Court after being arrested for inappropriate contact with two minors, according to Oneida County Sheriffs.
According to Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara — who is the director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center — members of the Advocacy Center were notified that two minor victims had allegedly been subjected to inappropriate contact.
Further investigation had found that the suspect — 42-year-old Hector Ramos of Rome — had allegedly subjected the two victims to lewd and inappropriate contact for several years.
On Thursday, Feb. 29, Ramos was issued an arrest warrant by the Oneida County Court and was indicted by a grand jury. Ramos was located and arrested by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Warrants Unit the same day.
On Friday, March 1, Ramos was arraigned in Oneida County Court and was remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility without bail.
He is being charged with:
- three counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, a Class A-II felony,
- two counts of first-degree Rape, a Class B felony,
- three counts of first-degree Criminal Sexual Act, a Class B felony,
- four counts of first-degree Sexual Abuse, a Class D felony, and
- one count of third-degree Rape, a Class E felony.
Services have been offered to the victims by the Child Advocacy Center. Orders of protection have been issued by the court on behalf of the victims.
