Portugal. The Man Caps Quickest Climb to Top of Adult Alternative Airplay This Year
Portugal. The Man earns its third No. 1 on Billboard‘s Adult Alternative Airplay chart, as “What, Me Worry?” leaps to the top of the March 19-dated tally.
The song leads in its fourth week on the list, marking the band’s quickest rise to No. 1. It surpasses “Feel It Still,” which needed six frames to reign in 2017, eventually dominating for 11 weeks.
“Worry” marks the fastest trip to No. 1 on the chart in 2022. The last song to take four weeks or fewer, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats‘ “Survivor,” reached the summit in its fourth frame last September.
Portugal. The Man’s other Adult Alternative Airplay No. 1, “Live in the Moment,” crowned the survey for two weeks beginning in 2018.
Concurrently, “Worry” rises 7-5 on Alternative Airplay. On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, it pushes 10-8 with 3.1 million audience impressions, up 10%, according to MRC Data.
“Worry” also re-enters the multi-metric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart at No. 46, after debuting at No. 45 (Feb. 26). In addition to its radio airplay, it earned 475,000 official U.S. streams in the March 4-10 tracking week.
The track” is the lead single from Portugal. The Man’s ninth studio album, expected in June, the follow-up to 2017’s Woodstock.
