Dua Lipa’s ‘Levitating’ Music Video Soars Past 1 Billion Views on YouTube

Dua Lipa‘s “Levitating” is continuing to rise to new heights, with the song’s high-energy visual recently surpassing a billion views on YouTube. It marks her third music video to reach the milestone, following 2017’s “New Rules” and “No Lie.”

Directed by Warren Fu and filmed in partnership with TikTok, the “Levitating” video finds the pop star stepping into a galactic portal that looks like a retro elevator inside. Modeling a shimmery blue dress and sparkles on her eyelids — matching the lyric, “Glitter in my eye, shining just the way you like” — Lipa and some friends dance along to her smash hit.

Also joining Lipa in the elevator is collaborator DaBaby, whose remix of the track helped propel it to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021. Eventually, the gang reaches their final stop on the ride up, getting off the lift once it arrives at a gravity-defying, ring-shaped disco dance floor in space.

“You want me, I want you, baby/ My sugarboo, I’m levitating,” Lipa sings on the dance-pop track. “The Milky Way, we’re renegading/ Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.”

One of several major singles from the singer’s 2020 Future Nostalgia album, “Levitating” was one of the defining songs of the year it was released. (As of 2025, it’s also the ninth-biggest Hot 100 hit of the 21st century, beating out massive smashes such as Harry Styles’ “As It Was” and Post Malone’s “Circles.”)

A lot has changed since then. In addition to getting engaged to actor Callum Turner and releasing 2024 album Radical Optimism in the years that followed the mammoth success of “Levitating,” Lipa has also distanced herself from DaBaby since the rapper’s homophobic rant at Rolling Loud in 2021.

“I’m surprised and horrified at DaBaby’s comments,” she wrote in a statement quickly after the hip-hop star spread insulting misinformation about the gay community and HIV/AIDS on stage. “I really don’t recognize this as the person I worked with.”
