Heat Advisory issued for CNY

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – A prolonged period of hot and humid air is on the way to Central New York this week with heat peaking during the Tuesday through Thursday time frame.

Temperatures are expected to soar into the mid to upper 90s Tuesday through Thursday and when combined with high levels of humidity it’s going to be oppressive and dangerous. The heat indices/feel-like readings will top out in the upper 90s to near 105° from the midday hours through early evening hours during the above-mentioned time frame.

For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for all of Central New York from noon Tuesday until 8 pm Thursday.

If you have to be outside for an extended period of time after 10 or 11 a.m. through about 8 pm, be sure to stay hydrated and do what you can to stay cool and out of direct sunlight. Also, a good idea to wear loose-fitting and light-colored clothing if you are going to be outside for any length of time.
