Syracuse Travels to Virginia Tuesday

Syracuse (9-12, 2-9 ACC) travels to Virginia (3-17, 0-9 ACC) for a Tuesday night game at John Paul Jones Arena. The rare Tuesday night tip-off is due to the originally scheduled game getting postponed due to inclement weather in Charlottesville on Jan. 16.

The Orange look to win their first road game in ACC play while the Cavaliers hope to snap an 11 game losing streak that dates back to Dec. 5. Fans can watch the game live on ACCNX at 6 p.m.

Syracuse has four players in the ACC’s top-20 for scoring. Teisha Hyman leads the team with 15.0 points per game, which is sixth in the league, while Chrislyn Carr is 11th in the ACC with 14.1 ppg. Christianna Carr (12.6 ppg) and Naje Murray (12.2 ppg) rank 18th and 20th, respectively. The Orange look to bounce back after Sunday’s 100-64 home loss to No. 4 Louisville.

Virginia has made strides in its last two games but has struggled to close out games. The Cavaliers blew a 12-point lead late in last Thursday’s road game at Boston College to lost 65-57 and Clemson stormed back to beat UVA 59-55 at JPJ on Sunday. Virginia is led offensively by Amandine Toi who averages 12.0 ppg and has played and started in all 20 games for the Cavaliers. Mir McLean, who transferred midyear to Charlottesville from UConn, has appeared in four games since playing for the Huskies during the fall semester and is averaging 9.3 ppg with two starts. She had 27 points in her Cavalier debut against Virginia Tech on Jan. 27.

Following Tuesday’s midweek game with UVA, the Orange have an off night from ACC action Thursday and will travel to Pittsburgh for the second of two regular-season meetings with the Panthers on Sunday. Syracuse won 80-72 in the first meeting on Jan. 30 at the Carrier Dome.
