Cash Cobain & Zeddy Will Join ‘Billboard Unfiltered Live’ & Debate Who’s the King & Queen of New York

It’s Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players week, and we had Zeddy Will and Cash Cobain join staffers Delisa Shannon and Kyle Denis for an episode of Billboard Unfiltered Live on Wednesday (Sept. 3).

This week’s show debated who is the current king and queen of rap in New York City. Denis went with Joey Bada$$ as the king, based on the dominance he showcased this year in battle and with his new album.

“He basically single-handedly took on an entire coast and won,” Denis said. “That new album is flames. He’s got this tour coming up. I’m really proud of the way that Joey maneuvered this year throughout music, throughout fashion, throughout acting.”

Zeddy Will went with the queen being Nicki Minaj. “She’s been able to still for all these years come back and sell arenas out,” he claimed. “She did MSG twice back-to-back. Her fanbase is still crazy to this day and she got all the hit records. The numbers don’t lie.”

As for Cash, he’s keeping it classic with Hov. “The king of New York is Jay-Z,” he said matter-of-factly. “It’s Jay-Z. Multi-platinum albums [and] president of Def Jam. He’s like the richest rapper, right? What didn’t he do?”

Cobain teased rumors that have been swirling about Jay-Z potentially coming back to drop his first solo album since 4:44. “I heard Jay-Z about to drop some s—t. That’s what I heard. That’s about to shake the world,” he said.

From Cardi B to A$AP Rocky, plenty of other names were floated for their stake at the crown, but the trio didn’t come off their original picks.
