‘Wicked: The Soundtrack’ Has a Release Date: Here’s Where to Pre-Order
This Thanksgiving is about to get a whole lot more musical. Republic Records and Verve Records announced on Wednesday (Oct. 8) that Wicked: The Soundtrack, which accompanies the upcoming film, will be released on Nov. 22.
The soundtrack, which features music and lyrics by the iconic composer Stephen Schwartz, will feature beloved songs from the musical including “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” “Dancing Through Life,” “The Wizard And I” and more.
The fourth-longest-running Broadway show of all time, Wicked pulls inspiration from both the stage musical and the best-selling Gregory Maguire-penned novel of the same name. Grande, who topped the Billboard 200 this year with her Eternal Sunshine LP, is set to star as Glinda the Good Witch, with Erivo, a two-time Academy Award nominee, taking on the iconic role of Elphaba, also known as the Wicked Witch of the West.
Both Grande and Erivo’s voices are heard on the soundtrack, as well as Michelle Yeoh as Shiz University’s headmistress Madame Morrible; Jonathan Bailey as prince Fiyero and Jeff Goldblum as the legendary Wizard of Oz.
The soundtrack will be released in multiple formats including CD, double vinyl, double picture disc and digitally. Target and Barnes & Noble will also be offering exclusive vinyl and CDs for fans.
The first part of the Jon M. Chu-directed adaptation Wicked arrives in theaters on November 22, on the same day as the soundtrack. See the album’s full track list below, and pre-order it here.
