What food services passed or failed their health inspection: June 9 – 15

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Onondaga County Health Department released its inspection reports for restaurants checked from June 9 through June 15.

One food service failed their inspection:

• Bullfinch Brewpub – 306 Hiawatha Boulevard, Syracuse

This restaurant received 4 violations, with one in critical condition.

Improper cooling and refrigeration storage of potentially hazardous foods (critical): The inspector found that under grill cooler was not operating properly to maintain potentially hazardous foods at or below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The following food items were stored at the improper temperatures ranging between 49-51 degrees Fahrenheit in the under-grill cooler.

• Three pounds of shrimp
• Five pounds of raw chicken wings
• Three pounds of hamburgers
• five pounds of cooked brisket

The cook stated that he took them out of the walk-in cooler an hour prior. This was corrected and all items were moved to another cooler.

Food not protected in general: The inspector found cases of food stored on the floor in a walk-in cooler, under shelving.

Inadequate insect/rodent control: The inspector found mouse activity throughout the restaurant.

Inadequate insect/rodent control: The inspector found unused equipment and piles of clean linens and bar mops on the floor, creating a harborage for pests.

Inadequate insect/rodent control: The inspector found in the back of the establishment, kitchen, and brewery area, several types of pest control such as Tomcat bait blocks, bait throw packs, and tin bait boxes.

Many locations passed their inspections between June 9 through June 15.
