Professional American golfer, Tiger Woods, was arrested on the afternoon of Mar. 27, 2026 and charged with driving under the influence. At around 2 p.m. in Jupiter Island, FL, the rollover crash occurred, involving Woods’ Land Rover and another truck pulling a trailer. The truck driver involved in the accident told officials that as he was turning into a driveway off a two-way street and saw Woods speeding down the road. As Woods tried to overtake the truck, he ended up clipping the trailer as the driver tried exiting the lane. Fortunately, nobody was injured but there was damage caused to both vehicles.
At the scene, the golfer’s SUV was flipped on its side and he was able to climb out through the window. Suspecting him to be impaired, law enforcement made Woods take a breathalyzer test to measure alcohol intake but when asked to submit a urine test, he refused telling them that he had been taking medication for prior injuries. Woods was arrested and taken to Martin County Jail where he was released later that night. Along with receiving a DUI charge he is now also facing a charge for refusing to take a test.
This incident was not, however, his first vehicular mishap. In 2021, Woods was involved in yet another rollover crash in Southern California after speeding down the road at about twice the speed limit. His car flew up in the air and landed on its side causing multiple serious injuries to the golfer. A controversy arose of whether Woods was impaired during the time of the crash and investigators received backlash after not obtaining a search warrant for his blood samples, an indicator of whether he was under the influence or not. He was not charged for that accident. Around four years before the 2021 crash, Woods had admitted himself into a clinic for prescription meds after being involved in yet another road incident. At that time, he was charged with a DUI after being found with five different drugs in his system.
After this calamity which happened to be the golfer’s fourth road related accident, people are wondering if Woods will return to the PGA Tour in Augusta, GA on Apr. 9, 2026. According to CNN, “His fans now have a question that is simple to ask and difficult to answer: Is Tiger Woods OK?” Fans and other golf professionals had waited for Woods’ return, expecting him to be on his A game like the athlete people know him to be. Unfortunately what they got in return was a disheveled mugshot from a Florida county jail.
