We caught up with Ciara at the TikTok Awards and she shares what her favorite TikTok trend of the year was, how her kids keep her up to date with trending TikToks, how songs like “Level Up” & “Like a Boy” went viral and more!

Hanging out at the first ever TikTok Awards with CiCi. How are you doing, boo?

Ciara:

I’m amazing. It’s kind of cool. 

It is cool! And I feel like the first question I want to ask you is, like, what trend was the one that you were checking for? It could be yours too. But I want to know, like, what were you captivated by this year on TikTok?

Oh my gosh. I mean, that’s a really good question. TikTok keeps your girl entertained. You know what I love is, I love when I can do the TikToks with my kids. So, I mean, maybe it’s a little self-serving, but, you know, I remember Future showing me the “Body Party.” I did this fun interview with Crystal Renee this year, and she asked me to do the same TikTok dance, which was fun.

Oh my gosh. Well, listen, so you put me on blast right now. Oh my gosh. Let me tell you my son had me cracking up because we were walking home from school. He’s like, “Mom, mommy, I know what a Jet2 holiday is!,” and it was hilarious. I’m like, “Wait, what are we talking about?” And I showed myself actually going down the craziest slides with my kids here in New York at a play place, and I’m like, flying in the air, holding on for dear life, and I’m telling you, like, TikTok will have a mama working.

They’re smart. And I mean, we had you and your daughter in, which was amazing. Do you feel like she’s now A&R for you? Because I feel like she was so smart on your songs.
