MAC’s latest brand ambassador is a no-brainer, given glam is an important part of her identity.
Chappell Roan is the new face of the popular brand, and it makes so much sense. The pop star’s glam is bold and graphic, taking inspo from drag queens for her usual bold, campy eyes and white base. Roan’s campaign encapsulated the “Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl” singer’s style, touching on her signatures mentioned above with a MAC twist.
“Partnering with MAC feels full circle. This brand has always made space for people like me; since day one they’ve embraced art, queerness, drag and self-expression,” said Roan in a press release.
The look was KISS-esque, serving as a slightly gothic version of her go-to face. If you’ve been dying to know how to get Roan’s MAC glam, well, you’re in luck. We’ve got the inside scoop on all her fave products, from eyes to lips and even her famed base makeup. You can shop the musician’s MAC favorites from Ulta Beauty below.
Lips
Jumping into her lip combo, a standout in her campaign look, we’ve got a lip liner in the shade Stone, a widely loved liner from the brand. The cool-toned liner retails for $25 and was used to define Roan’s lip line. This liner is a popular one because of its impact on the world of beauty and fashion — it was heavily used back in the ’90s, giving the likes of Kate Moss, Drew Barrymore and even RuPaul that signature taupe lip.
Paired with the cool-toned liner, Roan popped on a M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Cool Teddy, another iconic shade. The lippie retals for $25 and comes in a creamy but matte formula in a cool-toned beige hue that complemented the cool-toned liner, creating a taupe combo that we’ve seen on the likes of Pamela Anderson circa 1990.
Teddy is a great everyday hue, especially the cool-toned version if you don’t like warmer hues on your lips. The combo of Stone and Teddy is very wearable and one that we can see looking good on a ton of people.
Face
For her base, “The Giver” singer tends to go pretty fair, if not white. When she’s doing her base, she gravitates toward MAC’s Full Coverage Foundation in White for $44, a full-coverage cream foundation with a high-coverage payoff. On natural days, Roan will usually go with MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in the shade NW5 for $39. The powder foundation can be buffed into the skin for a full-coverage finish that is more lightweight than your traditional liquid or cream foundations. The resulting look is airbrushed and seamless.
To add a flush of color to her cheeks, Roan’s team got her blushing in the Glow Play Cushiony Blush in the shade So Natural for $34. The blush is a peachy hue with a very slight shimmer. The blush is lightweight to medium coverage that can be built up on the high points of the face to bring a touch of warmth.
Roan and her team carved out her brows with Pro Brow Definer 1mm-Tip Brow Pencil in the shades Spiked and Lingering. The brow product retails for $24 and boasts a waxy and pigmented formula that allows users precise control over the amount of product used. The pencil also comes with a spoolie to blend out your brows, giving them a natural look.
Eyes
The “Casual” singer utilized a bunch of products to create her eye look for the campaign. The singer and her team popped on Pro Longwear Paint Pot Cream Eyeshadow in the shades Tailor Grey and Blackout. Both cream shadows retail for $28 and come in an easily blendable cream formula that can also be used to set the eyelid, making powder shadow pop when placed on top.
Roan and her team utilized a bunch of MAC’s single shadows, retailing for $25, including shades Scene, Cozy Grey, Greystone and the ever-iconic Carbon. The chosen shadows created a taupe-gray and black moment that was gothic and glamorous. These shadows are pigmented but easy to work with, blending into the lid like butter.
To add even more drama, Roan and her team lined her eyes with MAC Kohl Power Eyeliner Pencil in Feline, a jet-black hue, retailing for $24. The creamy formula was used to line her lids and waterline, making Roan’s icy blue eyes pop. Roan’s lashes were treated with MAC Macstack Mascara Superstack mascara in black, retailing for $29. The formula aims to lengthen and volumize the lashes, keeping them curled and voluminous for up to 24 hours. No clumping and no smudging.
