Cardi B Gets ‘Pretty & Petty’ by Dropping a Video for Her BIA Diss Track

Cardi B is leaning into the three P’s of life for herself right now: pretty, petty and pregnant. The Bronx rapper returned to release a DIY visual to her Am I the Drama? track “Pretty & Petty” on Sunday (Oct. 19).

Cardi appeared to shoot the clip either at home or an office of sorts, and in the visual, she is draped in a polka-dot dress, hugging her curves and pregnant belly.

The DJ Swanqo-produced track, which reached No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100, turned heads for Cardi’s bristling bars directed at dissing BIA. “Name five BIA songs, gun pointin’ to your head/ Baow, I’m dead,” she raps, before dropping to the floor in the clip.

Later in the track, Cardi continues to diss BIA while taking shots at her looks at lack of award show hardware. “I’d rather die on the surgery table/ ‘Fore I gotta walk around here lookin’ like you/ You wanna beef with me, are you sure/ Do she even got a BET award,” she spews.

Cardi previously said she held off on releasing a video or anything tied to “Pretty & Petty” because she didn’t want to “bully” or step on BIA’s BIANCA album release date, which arrived on Oct. 10.

“I’ma be nice to you because it’s your album day,” Cardi said in a video at the time. “I don’t want to add to your stress.”

In a new interview with Billboard, BIA addressed why she didn’t want to attach a solidified Cardi response to her album.

“If I was to ever address it again, I would never attach it to my album, because this is a beautiful body of work that I believe in,” she said. “I wouldn’t want to disservice this and overshadow it with noise or negativity.”
