Fans Choose Charlie Puth’s ‘Changes’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music
“Changes,” the new single from Charlie Puth, tops the latest fan-voted new music poll.
Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Oct. 17) on Billboard, choosing Puth’s track as their favorite new release.
“Changes” arrived Thursday alongside new releases from Morgan Wallen, Tame Impala, Teddy Swims, 5 Seconds of Summer and more.
The release of the ’80s pop-inspired tune was accompanied with a feel-good music video (that revealed his wife, Brooke, is pregnant) and the news that Puth’s fourth studio album, Whatever’s Clever!, will be out on March 6. “Charlie reflects on ‘Changes’ both personal and professional,” a press release said of Puth’s new single and music video.
“There’s been some changes in our life,” he sings in the chorus, set to an airy melody that’ll stay in your head long after you’ve listened to it. “Oh I can feel the distance, space and time has/ Made everything different, day and night, oh/ Everything has changed and I don’t know why.”
Whatever’s Clever! is the follow-up to 2022’s Charlie, which featured Billboard Hot 100 top 40 singles “Light Switch” and “Left and Right” (with BTS’ Jung Kook). The set will be released by his longtime label, Atlantic Records.
Among the new music trailing behind Puth’s “Changes” on the poll are Morgan Wallen’s “Graveyard Whistling,” with 20% of the vote; Tame Impala’s “Deadbeat,” with 14% of the vote; Teddy Swims’ “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming,” with 7% of the vote, and 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Boyband,” with 6% of the vote.
