Two burglary calls in ten minutes lead to arrest of Rome man


Suspect used ladder to break into apartments
UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Utica Police responded to two burglary calls in ten minutes early Sunday morning, leading to a Rome man’s arrest.
The calls were between 3:40 and 3:50 am on Sunday, June 8 on the 800 block of Huntington Street and the 600 block of Sunset Avenue. Police found that in both cases, the suspect — later identified as 39-year-old Joseph Farda of Rome — used a ladder to enter two second floor apartments to steal property.
In both cases, both victims had heard noises in their apartments. Upon investigation, both victims found an unknown male — later identified as Farda — standing in their apartments. When Farda was confronted in both cases, he fled on foot with the property.
In the Sunset Avenue incident, officers were able to obtain a description of Farda. Upon conducting a search of the area, they located Farda, who fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, Farda was arrested without further incident and transported to
After an investigation by the Utica Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Farda was ultimately charged with:
- Two counts of second-degree Burglary, a Class C Violent Felony, and
- Two counts of Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor.
