Two people displaced after overnight fire on Wadsworth Street

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — On Saturday, June 29, at 3:10 a.m., Syracuse Firefighters were alerted by a 911 call of a reported possible house fire in the 800 block of Wadsworth Street, on the City’s North Side.

When firefighters first arrived on scene they found flames coming from the back of the house.

They quickly began to put fire out on the first floor where the flames were the worst, while another group of firefighters searched the house.

Firefighters found that the fire was coming from the kitchen in the back end of the house on the first floor. Their search also found that there was no one in the home.

The fire was declared out after 40 minutes.

The home’s first floor sustained large amounts of fire, smoke, and water damage while the second floor also sustained some fire, smoke, and water damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Two people who lived in the home were displaced by the fire and were not home at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries reported to civilians or to fire department personnel. Sadly, three cats were lost as a result of the fire.
