Interlaken teacher charged, resigned after school incident


INTERLAKEN, N.Y. (WETM) — A South Seneca Elementary School teacher resigned and is facing a charge after allegedly being involved in a physical altercation with a student.
According to the Interlaken Police Department, officers received a report on May 31 that claimed Jessika M. Pfeil subjected a student to unwanted physical contact at South Seneca Elementary School as the child was leaving for the day. Police investigated the report through interviews, voluntary statements from those involved, and reviewing surveillance video.
Pfeil was charged with second-degree harassment after the investigation. She was issued a criminal summons to appear in the Town of Covert Court on July 12.
According to the superintendent of the South Seneca Central School District, Pfeil resigned from her position as a teacher with the district on June 12. The resignation went into effect at the end of the school year.
