Dog rescued from three-alarm Oswego fire

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Around 7:10 a.m. on Monday, June 24, Oswego firefighters were called to a house fire on East Second Street in the City of Oswego.

Firefighters began to put out the fire and searched both apartment units within the house.

All occupants had made it out of the home, but firefighters did find and rescue a dog from the fire.

Firefighters then had to evacuate the home due to the wind-driven fire conditions, said the Oswego Fire Department.

For the next two hours, firefighters fought the flames from the outside.

Crews also had to place the hoses in strategic positions to stop the fire from spreading to the neighboring house, which was only five feet away from the fire, the fire department said.

The fire was officially put out around 10 a.m.

The home suffered heavy fire and water damage and is expected to be a total loss, according to the fire department.

No injuries occurred, but two families were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
