Quiet now, but turns stormy at times for the holiday

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – It turned nice Sunday, but stormy changes are on the way for Memorial Day. Details are below…
Turns damp towards morning
Clouds increasing overnight give way to a few showers and possibly a storm or two after 3 or 4 am. Temperatures will be in the 60s for most overnight as a breeze kicks up out of the southeast too ahead of a warm front.
A wetter end to Memorial Day weekend
Unfortunately, our thinking for Memorial Day has not changed and it ends up being the most unsettled day of the holiday weekend but at least it won’t be a washout. For more details on how the weather may impact your park/cookout and or mowing plans click here.
When do showers/storms come through?
A warm front swings through first thing in the morning with a few showers and possibly a storm or two. This will be followed by a good 4-to-6-hour window of dry time after 7 or 8 am until or just after lunch time when another round of more widespread showers and possibly strong storms sweeps through between about 1 and 4 pm.
Beyond the line of showers and storms in the afternoon, we expect a few more scattered showers and storms to be around through about 9 or 10 pm ahead and with the cold front itself.
Severe threat?
At this point, the risk of severe weather is low, 1 out of 5, but we can’t rule out a few storms containing damaging winds, large hail and torrential rain that could lead to localized flash flooding. If there’s going to be any severe storms it most likely would occur between about noon 8 or 9 pm, but especially during the afternoon.

Highs on Monday will be well into the 70s to around 80 once again, and it will feel more humid as dew points climb back into the 60s. We also expect the wind to pick up with occasional gusts up to around 30 miles per hour. Higher gusts up to 50 or 60 mph remain possible within thunderstorms.

As many head back to work and school Tuesday the pattern is shaping up to be a bit damp at times, much cooler and less humid into the middle of the week with highs cooling back into the 60s by Wednesday and Thursday!
