Wind, rain and thunder all possible to end the week

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – Our weather is staying rather dreary, windy, and mild… for now. The showers stick around tonight but the temperatures eventually take a tumble by the weekend. Details are below…
Stays mild, but keep raincoats handy
It’s windy, warm and a little humid Thursday night with some showers possible Thursday evening near sunset and then a heavier batch probable late Thursday night/early Friday ahead of a strong cold front. There could be some thunder too, but severe weather is not expected.

While it is breezy tonight, the best chance for some damaging wind gusts are over Lewis and Jefferson counties, where a Wind Advisory is in effect until just before sunrise Friday.

After a wet start to Friday, the shower activity will be more scattered with a decent amount of dry time the rest of the day.
It’s windy and slowly turning cooler Friday too, as readings drop through the 50s during the afternoon.

Gusty winds of change late week…
It’s very windy, 40+ mph gusts, and turning chillier Friday night with another round of mainly rain for most, but rain could change to snow late Friday night into Saturday morning over the hills. There MAY even be a light snow accumulation across the higher terrain!
Rain and snow taper Saturday afternoon, but it remains chilly with highs likely not getting out of the 40s. Gusty winds over 40 mph at times Saturday accentuate the chill to start the weekend making it feel more like the 30s much of Saturday. That makes for a very raw start to the weekend.
Any better Sunday?
Maybe a little but probably not much better to end the weekend. There certainly will be less wind and it could be a milder too, but another round of rain showers tries to move in during the day with a fast-moving wave of low pressure.
Highs to end the weekend should make the 50s.
We would say we really catch a weather break until early next week when we get more sun and moderating temperatures.

Stay tuned for updates.
