How did CNY businesses navigate the mild winter this year?

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — With green grass on the snow tubing lanes at Four Seasons Golf and Ski Center, you might think winter business was all downhill.

“It was decent actually. It wasn’t terrible. We were able to make snow and we got most of our events in this year we wanted to do,” said operations manager Bill Hane.

But it was far from a perfect season.

“There were a few rain events and such that we lost because of that,” Hane said. “We lost a few days at the end of Christmas week because of the lack of snow.”

The lack of snow here has fired up businesses like Foxfire Golf Course in Baldwinsville. Seeing green, has golfers out on the grass, in full swing.

“It’s been one of the best winters I’ve ever seen on the golf course in Central New York and in particular Foxfire,” said employee Tim Winters. “They’re breaking records every day with heat and warmth. It’s amazing.”

Monday’s weather and course conditions are even better than sinking that beloved birdie putt.

“The greens are fine. The fairway is a little soft, the ball is not running. But you’re not coming out today to play golf for a score today because nobody can score today not even Jack Nicklaus,” said Perry Noun, the radio host of Tee Time with the ProNoun. “So, we’re out there enjoying the sun and fresh air.”

With the mild winter, Thomas Direnzo has been playing rounds every chance he gets.

“I golf every day, at least once every month and I think people are starting to get that idea also. Now it’s very easy to do,” he said.

Four Seasons will open its driving range and mini-golf course on April 1, ending their winter season. Foxfire is welcoming golfers every day now until next winter.
