SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — There’s no better feeling that capturing a “money shot” when taking photos of wildlife in action.

At the Honeywell Onondaga Lake Visitors Center on March 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., you will get to learn new photography skills alongside four local photographers.

“The photographers spent countless hours in all weather conditions along the newly restored shoreline and wetlands to capture the images that will be featured during the program,” said the Onondaga Lake Conservation Corps, the hosts of the program.

You will also get to hear amazing stories behind images that will be shown during the program.

Additionally, you will be taught tips and tricks for taking that perfect photo of nature and wildlife, says the Onondaga Lake Conservation Corps.

Joe Fratianni and Ed Guarente will lead a discussion about their choices of equipment, how to frame the setting, work with lighting and surroundings.

“You’ll see some fantastic images they’ve captured and learn the story behind them. Got a question about cameras and equipment? These two will be happy to help,” said the Onondaga Lake Conservation Corps.

Frank Valls will showcase an innovative movie loop. Shown from the perspective of a kayak, Frank captures a different view of the Bald Eagles and other birds. You’ll see images of the lake’s restoration project and the conservation work that Onondaga Lake Conservation Corps has accomplished from a view not available from the shore.

Tickets are $10 per person. You have to register for the event. Space is limited. Click HERE.

Framed and matted photographs of Onondaga Lake’s birds and other wildlife will be available for purchase to support the Onondaga Lake Conservation Corps’ conservation projects and education programs.
