Five Earn IWLCA All-America Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse senior Meaghan Tyrrell is an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America First Team selection for the second consecutive year. She is one of five members of the Orange named an All-American by the IWLCA on Thursday, May 26.
 
Graduate student Emily Hawryschuk and junior Kate Mashewske earned second-team All-America honors, while senior Sarah Cooper and junior Emma Tyrrell were named to the third team.
 
Meaghan Tyrrell is one of the leading scorers in the nation this season. She ranks fifth in the current NCAA statistics in goals (78) and points (111). Tyrrell is also fourth in shooting percentage (.595) and seventh in points per game (5.29). Her 78 goals are a career high and just one shy of the school single-season record of 79 set by current head coach Kayla Treanor in 2014. Tyrrell recorded her 300th career point and 200th career goal in 2022.
 
Hawryschuk is making her second appearance on the IWLCA All-America squad. She ranked second on the team in points (87), goals (63) and assists (24). Hawryschuk scored four or more goals in eight games this season, including a career-high seven at Cornell. She ends her career as Syracuse’s all-time leader in goals (272). In addition, Hawryschuk ranks fourth in career points with 341.
 
Mashewske had a breakout season in the draw circle in 2022. She ranks sixth in the nation in draw controls per game (8.48) and her 178 draw controls this season rank third on Syracuse’s single-season record list. Mashewske recorded 10 or more draw controls in eight games. Her 19 draw controls against Louisville tied the single-game school record and tied for the fourth-highest total in the nation this season.
 
Cooper anchored the Orange defense that held its opponents to less than 10 goals seven times in 2022. Cooper, who earns IWLCA All-America honors for the second straight season, posted 20 caused turnovers, 28 ground balls and a career-high 59 draw controls. The Tewaaraton Award nominee ranks second in caused turnovers on Syracuse’s career leader list with 98.
 
Emma Tyrrell recorded 50 points on 30 goals and 20 assists in the first 12 games of the year before suffering a season-ending injury. She also recorded 64 draw controls, which ranked second on the team. Tyrrell posted four or more points in six contests and had three or more goals four times.
 
Syracuse finished the 2022 season with a 15-6 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
