PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 4 Syracuse looks to advance to the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament quarterfinals when it takes on No. 9 Princeton in a second-round matchup on Sunday, May 14. Opening draw is set for noon in Princeton, N.J.

ORANGE UPDATE
Fifth-seeded Syracuse defeated Fairfield, 12-11, in the opening round of the tournament on Friday. Freshman Olivia Adamson led the way with six points (5g, 1a), while senior Meaghan Tyrrell added four points on three goals and an assist.
 
The win improved the Orange’s record to 14-5.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton defeated UMass, 15-9, in its first-round game on Friday. The victory extended the Tigers’ winning streak to eight games and improved their record to 15-3.
 
Kyla Sears leads the Princeton offense. She has recorded 97 points on 67 goals and 30 assists – all of which lead the team. Sam Fish has started all 18 games in goal for the Tigers. She has an 11.44 goals-against average and a .470 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Syracuse and Princeton will meet for the fourth time overall and second time in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers lead the series, 2-1. The last meeting between the squads was a first-round contest in the 2018 NCAA Tournament in Newton, Mass. Princeton led by as many as six in the first half but the Orange rallied to cut the deficit to 9-5 at halftime.
 
After the teams traded goals to start the second half, Nicole Levy sparked a 5-0 ‘Cuse scoring run that gave it an 11-10 lead. Princeton ended its scoring drought of nearly 20 minutes to tie the game at 11-11 and force overtime. The Tigers scored the game winner in the second OT to advance to the second round.
 
UP NEXT
The winner of Sunday’s game advances to next week’s NCAA quarterfinals where it will take on the winner between Northwestern and Michigan.
