NFL Calls For Syracuse Stars

A trio of Orange players have already landed with NFL teams following this weekend’s NFL Draft.
Kingsley Jonathan and McKinley Williams have inked free agent contracts with the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts, respectively, while Josh Black has accepted a mini-camp invite with his hometown Chicago Bears.
Free agency signing and camp invitations are expected to be continued to be offered through the weekend as well, with Cody Roscoe, Airon Servias and Abdul Adams remaining as the players who participated in Syracuse Pro Day that have yet to announce their NFL destination.
Jonathan has been an impressive player for the Orange both on and off the field. He concluded his collegiate career with over 100 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 15 sacks and three forced fumbles in his career, which featured multiple defensive schemes. Perhaps more impressive are his off the field accolades. The winner of the Jim Tatum Award as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s top senior student athlete, Jonathan has represented the league on the NCAA Autonomy Board and been a semifinalist for the Campbell and Wuerffel Trophies in his career. He was also a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Black, an outgoing fan favorite, has played both end and tackle in his collegiate career and was an All-ACC selection this year. He made 48 starts over six seasons and had 155 tackles, 24.0 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks in his career. He started 35-straight games to end his career.
Williams played in 61 games in his collegiate career, spending the past two seasons at nose tackle – a vital spot in the Orange’s 3-3-5 scheme. He finished his SU career with 122 tackles, including 70 solo, 21.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks.
The group joins a growing list of players in the NFL: Alton Robinson (Seahawks), Chris Slayton (49ers), Trill Williams (Dolphins), Andre Cisco (Jaguars), Riley Dixon (Rams), Chandler Jones (Raiders), Zaire Franklin (Colts), Trishton Jackson (Vikings), Sterling Hofrichter (Buccaneers), Justin Pugh (Cardinals), Koda Martin (Cardinals) and Nolan Cooney (Cardinals) are all currently with NFL teams.
