Rochester Native Dyaisha Fair Transfers to Syracuse

One of the nation’s top scoring threats, Dyaisha Fair, has transferred to Syracuse. The Rochester, N.Y., native averaged 23.1 points per game over the last three seasons at Buffalo and finished her junior year ranked fourth in the nation in points per game (23.4), while shooting 40.4 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three-point range.

Standing at 5-foot-5, Fair is a three-level scoring guard who tallied 4.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.1 steals last season. She started in every game for the Bulls recording 25 games with 20-plus points. She was named honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press along with Most Valuable Player of the MidAtlantic Conference (MAC) Tournament where she led the Bulls to their third MAC championship in program history.

Fair was a finalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year award and was on the late season watch list for the Dawn Staley Award. She was also listed among the best point guards in the country on the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list.
The 2020 MAC Freshman of the Year, Fair’s impact was immediate on the Bulls program. She put together one of the best freshman campaigns in program history playing in all 30 games with 26 starts. She averaged 22.0 points per game, 5.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists and scored in double figures 28 times.

She started in all 24 of Buffalo’s games as a sophomore as she continued to build off a strong freshman season. Fair was named All-MAC First Team and All-Defensive Team while averaging 24.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.9 steals per game.
She led the Bulls in scoring in 22 of 24 games and led the team in assists (122) and steals (70). She was a top-10 finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award and was one of 10 semifinalists for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award.

Fair was a standout at Edison Tech High School in Rochester where she helped her team to an 18-4 record as a senior. She led Section V in scoring with 33.5 points per game adding 10.0 rebounds and eight assists per game en route to being named All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year, becoming the first athlete from the Rochester City School District to win the award since its inauguration in 1993. She set school records for points in a game (51) and three-pointers made in a season as well as three-pointers in a game (10) which also broke the Section V record. Fair was named to the Ronald McDonald All-Star Team and was a 2018 New York State Sportswriters Association All-State Team Honorable Mention selection.

Fair joins her former Buffalo head coach Legette-Jack in the Salt City along with three UB transfers including MAC Freshman of the Year Georgia Woolley, Saniaa Wilson and Cheyenne McEvans.
