Hawryschuk, Mashewske Earn ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Syracuse’s Emily Hawryschuk is this week’s ACC Offensive Player of the Week, while Kate Mashewske is the league’s Co-Defensive Player of the Week. The pair were honored after leading the Orange to wins against Cornell and Louisville.

Hawryschuk recorded career highs in points (11) and goals (7) in Syracuse’s 20-9 victory at Cornell. Both totals tie for second on the Orange’s single-game record list. Hawryschuk had eight points during a 17-2 ‘Cuse run that turned a three-goal deficit to a 12-goal lead. She also scored five goals against Louisville, all in the second half to help the Orange pull away for a 23-13 victory.

Mashewske tied the single-game school record with 19 draw controls against Louisville. She matched the mark current head coach Kayla Treanor posted against Loyola in the 2016 season opener. Mashewske also had 11 draw controls against Cornell, helping the Orange win 46-of-70 (.657) draws in the two games.

The No. 4 Orange close out the regular season at No. 3 Boston College on Friday, April 22 at 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
