Current, Former Orange to Compete at 2022 World Championship

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse will be well represented at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship, which will be held this summer in Towson, Maryland. Junior Bianca Chevarie, sophomore Maddy Baxter and head coach Kayla Treanor ’16 are among the six current or former players who will compete at the event for the United States and Canada.

Chevarie and Baxter join Alie Jimerson ’18 on the Team Canada roster. Baxter has played in all three games this season and has recorded a goal and an assist as well as three ground balls. Chevarie returned to the lineup in Syracuse’s win against No. 4 Stony Brook. The defender had two ground balls, a caused turnover and a draw control against the Seawolves.

Treanor, Becca Block ’13 and Liz Hogan ’11 are part of the 18-player roster that will try to help Team USA defend its title. Treanor and Block helped the U.S. win the gold medal at the 2017 world championship. Treanor earned All-World Team honors after recording 43 points on 24 goals and 19 assists – all team highs – in the tournament. Hogan also has experience with Team USA and will compete in the World Championship for the first time.

The World Women’s Lacrosse World Championship is scheduled from June 29 – July 9 at Towson University. It marks the first time USA Lacrosse has hosted the world championship since 2005. Team USA is the two-defending champion and will look for its 11th overall title.
