Euphoria Season 3: Honoring the Memory of Passed Actors

As anticipation builds with episode one of Euphoria season three approaching, it’s hard to ignore the many cast members and beloved characters that won’t be returning.  

With four years passing since season two, many key absences have been confirmed or speculated. Two beloved actors passed in the time between season two and three , Angus Cloud who played Fezco and Eric Dane who played Cal Jacobs. These losses raise questions on how the show will go about addressing the loss of the characters, while still honoring and respecting the actors. 

At the same time, reports surrounding actors like Barbie Ferreira stepping away from her role as Kat have added to concerns about how the show will maintain its original cast dynamic. Many felt that Kat’s storyline in the show was sidelined in season two. 

Sam Levinson, the Euphoria creator, has commented on the roles that both Eric Dane ‘s and Angus Cloud’s characters will have in the upcoming season. In an interview with Extra Levinson said that he told Dane “whatever shape you show up in, we’re gonna make it work. I have faith that it’s all gonna work”. He also told The Hollywood Reporter in regards to Angus Clouds that “I couldn’t keep him alive in real life but I could keep his character alive in the show”. 

Still, with Zendaya returning as Rue, the emotional core of the show remains intact. Whether that will be enough to carry a shifting cast remains to be seen.
