Whitney Leavitt’s Leap from MomTok to Broadway, Debuts as Roxie Hart in “Chicago”

Whitney Leavitt, the viral #MomTok star and breakout personality from Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” will make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in “Chicago” at the Ambassador Theatre. Her limited run begins February 2 and continues through March 15, 2026.
Leavitt first rose to fame through TikTok dance trends and her candid presence in the #MomTok community, which later expanded her reach as a central figure on Hulu’s reality series. She recently showcased her dance skills on Season 34 of “Dancing with the Stars,” where she and her partner, Mark Ballas, were frontrunners for much of the competition. At the same time, season three of “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” aired, prompting Leavitt to receive significant hate on social media. So, despite the strong scores and judges’ praise, the audience ultimately sealed her fate, eliminating her in the semifinals on Nov.18. This came as a shock to fans of the dancing variety show, who expected her to reach the finale, but not such a shock to the fans of “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”
That setback only fueled her momentum. Leavitt later performed her unaired freestyle routine on the hit podcast “Call Her Daddy,” using Broadway-inspired theatrics, such as mirrors, lipstick, and water, to address online hate and bullying. Generating significant traction online, support for Leavitt and the creative process behind the dance grew.
In the past, legends ranging from Gwen Verdon to Renée Zellweger and other reality TV stars like Lisa Rinna and Erika Jayne have portrayed Hart’s character. For Leavitt, this role represents both a challenge and a chance to prove that social media fame and reality TV stardom can translate into Broadway artistry. For Leavitt, the debut represents more than just a casting announcement; it is a “pinch me moment” that will alter her career and opportunities to follow.
