Robby Hoffman’s New Comedy Special ‘Wake Up’ Comes to Netflix Soon

Robby Hoffman’s time has come. The comedian, who The New York Times described as “a modern lesbian Andrew ‘Dice’ Clay” and compared her “bulldozing stand-up” to Larry David, will debut her new special, Wake Up — directed by John Mulaney — on the Netflix Dec. 14.

Her performance was recorded Oct. 21 at The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles, and begins with Hoffman pulling up to the venue in a sweet Porsche.

Hoffman, whose signature look includes a slicked-back bun and wire rim glasses was a standout on season four of HBO Max’s hit comedy series Hacks, which stars Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder, earned a 2025 Emmy nomination for outstanding guest in a comedy series. She also starred opposite Michelle Williams in the limited FX series Dying for Sex and won a Daytime Emmy in 2019 for her writing on the PBS children’s series Odd Squad. The Times also described her podcast Too Far as “an addictive listen.”

She’ll appear again in season five — which is now in production — as Randi, the office manager for agents Jimmy LuSaque Jr.’s (Paul W. Downs) and Kayla Schaeffer’s (Megan Stalter) talent agency.

The queer ex-Hasidic comedian is now developing Unentitled at HBO, a new series she is writing, executive producing and set to star in. She will also appear in a major role in Steve Carell’s upcoming HBO series.

Hoffman has also worked as a writer forThe Chris Gethard Show (TruTV), Workin’ Moms (Netflix) and the Baroness von Sketch Show (IFC).
