On Monday (Dec. 8), Erivo earned her second nomination in the category of best performance by a female actor in a motion picture – musical or comedy at the 2026 Golden Globes for her work on Wicked: For Good. She celebrated the news on Instagram Stories, with the 38-year-old actress expressing utter gratitude for the recognition from the awards show.

“WOW!!! What lovely news to receive live from the rehearsal room of [Dracula, her upcoming one-woman show on the West End],” she wrote. “It’s an honor to be nominated once again for this film. It has been a beautiful journey to play this character, and this is the cherry on top.”

Erivo also praised Wicked costar Ariana Grande for securing a nod in the supporting actress category, while thanking director Jon M. Chu and producer Marc Platt for helping make the films a reality.

Along with earning a second nomination in the leading actess category, Erivo also made history with her nomination — the actress becomes the first Black woman to earn two nominations in the category, a feat that she further celebrated with another post on her Instagram Stories.

“This means so much to me,” she wrote under a headline from Variety sharing the news of her history-making nomination. “I don’t even know what to say … Thank you.”

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter shortly after her nomination, Erivo looked back on her Wicked journey, telling the publication that she didn’t think anything else in her career could compare to the “whirlwind” she went through over the last few years. “I don’t think I’ll ever forget the experience, and the most wonderful thing about it is that I’m in contact and will always be in contact with every single person who is a part of this journey,” she said. “I don’t know, it doesn’t feel like a goodbye. More like a see you later.”

Along with Erivo and Grande’s nominations, Wicked: For Good earned five nods total from the Golden Globes, including cinematic and box office achievement (which Wicked won at last year’s ceremony), and two nods in the best original song category for “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble,” the two Stephen Schwartz-penned new songs featured in the film.
