Ariana Grande Says She’s ‘Scared’ to Find Out What Viral ‘6-7’ Meme Means: ‘I Don’t Want to Know’
Ariana Grande loves all things popular, but the “6-7” meme is where she draws the line. After someone clipped her reaction to Adam Sandler unintentionally saying the viral phrase during their Actors on Actors conversation, the singer-actress clarified that she has no idea what it means — and she has no desire to.
While speaking to the comedian for Variety‘s ongoing series, Grande momentarily looked appalled when Sandler said something about having to shoot “six or seven” scenes in a row. In response to an Instagram account that posted a clip of the moment and wrote that the meme clearly “haunts” the Grammy winner, she wrote Saturday (Dec. 6), “i don’t know what this means !”
“i was reacting to him saying the amount of emotional scenes back to back !” Grande continued in her comment. “i’m scared what is 67.”
The Wicked star then quickly changed her mind. “actually i don’t want to know please i love you all enjoy,” she added in the replies.
If you, like Grande, have made it this far without hearing about the “6-7” meme, congratulations might be in order. The Gen-Alpha joke has been almost inescapable for months, with kids and teens going out of their way to trick unwitting parents and teachers into saying “six-seven” on camera and finding any excuse to squeeze the numbers into conversation.
But what does “6-7” mean? Well, not really anything. The phrase originated in the Skrilla song “Doot Doot” featuring G Herbo — “The way that switch brrt, I know he dyin’/ 6-7, I just bipped right on the highway,” is the full lyric — and has since been associated with NBA edits and a specific hand gesture. Mainly, the humor of “6-7” is simply saying “6-7” for the sake of saying “6-7,” and nothing more.
It might seem silly — and it is — but the meme has spread so wildly, “6-7” finished 2025 as Dictionary.com’s word of the year. It also helped land “Doot Doot (6 7)” on YouTube’s year-end list of top songs on Shorts. South Park even did an episode in October mocking the craze.
