Shakira Channels Character Gazelle in New ‘Zootopia 2’ Music Video for ‘Zoo’

Shakira is set to return as pop star Gazelle for Disney’s Zootopia 2, and the colorful music video for “Zoo,” her original song in the film, premiered on Wednesday (Nov. 12).

In the three-minute clip, the Colombian hitmaker channels her character appearing in multiple Gazelle-inspired looks, and she shares a number of scenes with other animated characters, including Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan) and Nibbles Maplestick (Fortune Feimster).

The music video — which combines her real life performance with footage from the film — was directed by Hannah Lux Davis. It’s set in multiple environments from the film including the Zootenial Gala celebrating the 100th anniversary of the city’s weather walls; the Zootopia Express; and a scene at a steep cliffside that Shakira scales with Judy and Nick.

Penned by Ed Sheeran, Blake Slatkin and Shakira, “Zoo” was released in October. It follows Shakira’s “Try Everything,” her original song for Zootopia (2016). “Zoo” will be available as a collectible 7” purple vinyl single. Zootopia 2 will be in theaters Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Earlier this month, Shakira received the inaugural Billboard Global Touring Icon Award in honor of her historic Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, the highest grossing Latin tour ever by a woman and the second highest grossing Latin tour ever. “It’s encouraging and inspiring,” Shakira said in her speech. “It’s incredible and motivating at the same time, I feel like I’m just starting my career, and it’s crazy because it’s been 30 years.”
